Mylene Paat deflected the credit to his teammates after her 26-point explosion in Chery Tiggo’s four-set triumph over Black Mamba-Army in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Saturday.
Paat posted a game-high 26 points on 22 attacks and four kill blocks in the Crossovers’ 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, win over the Lady Troopers at the Philsports Arena.
The 28-year-old national team stalwart said that her impressive scoring output would not be possible without the help of her teammates.
“Actually yun yung lagi kong sinasabi na hindi ko naman yung makukuha yung points na yun kung hindi dahil sa tulong ng mga teammates ko,” said the 2022 Reinforced Conference MVP after the victory.
“Siguro nung time na yun binabantayan na rin sila Pauline [Gaston], yung middles namin, lahat ng mga teammates ko kasi distributed naman yung bola.”
Paat got ample support from her supporting cast with EJ Laure and Cza Carandang scoring 12 points each.
Pauline Gaston had eight markers in her first game in a Chery Tiggo jersey while Roselle Baliton, Alina Bicar, and Shaya Adorador all chipped in four points for the Crossovers.
The Adamson product also lauded Gaston for providing the team the much-needed energy off the bench by delivering inside the court and cheering them on when she’s outside.
“Ponggay is getting matured naman also yung pagkajolly niya inside the court yun yung isang pampa-boost din talaga ng morale namin,” said Paat.
“Bukod sa talent na meron sa kaniya, kasi knowing Ponggay naman magde-deliver talaga ‘yan, aside from that yung pagkajolly niya talaga saka lagi niya kaming pinu-push kahit na off the bench siya.”
