Vice Co. stifles wasteful PLDT for third win

Limiting their errors to a season-low 11, the Vice Co. Blockbusters eked out a tight four-set win over the PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Blockbusters’ 11 errors was a stark contrast to PLDT’s 34 giveaways, most of which came in crucial points of the match. Head coach Rey Diaz lauded his team’s effort against a powerhouse PLDT side.

“Kumpara doon sa PLDT, mas bata ‘yung team namin, experienced na talaga ‘yung kalaban,” said Diaz.

“Pero nakita naman na lumaban talaga ‘yung team namin tapos sumunod sa gameplan. May mga kailangan pa kaming ayusin, pero happy ako sa pi akita namin today,” the FEU lifer furthered.

Richard Solis led the Blockbusters with 18 points off 17 attacks while JP Bugaoan added 11 points. Vice Co. also dominated the net, pulling 11 block kills.

Vice Co. (3-1) faces Air Force (1-3) on June 6 at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Mark Alfafara topped the Power Hitters with 24 points. PLDT ends the elimination round with a 2-3 card.
