Coming off a disappointing loss, the Pocari Sweat-Air Force Lady Warriors found their groove after overwhelming the Iriga-Navy Oragons, 25-8, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
After dominating the first set, Pocari Sweat fell in a close encounter to Iriga-Navy in the second set. Lady Warriors head coach Jasper Jimenez said his team did not become overconfident, but failed to respond to Iriga’s resurgent play.
“Hindi naman sa masyadong nagkakumpiyansa ‘yung team ko. Medyo nahirapan lang talaga noong nagstep-up ‘yung kalaban namin,” he shared.
By the third and fourth sets, the Lady Warriors went back to dominating, establishing and protecting insurmountable early leads.
“Masaya naman ako sa nilaro namin. Siguro, kailangan lang namin maging mas consistent pa. Importante kasi sa mga next games namin, must-win situation na para makaangat kami sa semis,” Jimenez added.
Arielle Love topped the Lady Warriors with 25 points, while captain Myla Pablo added 16.
Imports Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte each provided 15 points for the Oragons.
Pocari Sweat (2-2) take on the league-leading Bali Pure Water Defenders (3-1) on Sunday at the Batangas City Coliseum. Iriga-Navy (1-2) face the PetroGazz Angels (1-3) on Saturday, also at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
