Air Force rolls to first QF win, avenges shock loss to Army

The Philippine Air Force Jet Spikers picked up their second win of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference quarterfinals, sliding past the Philippine Army Troopers, 25-23, 25-17, 27-29, 25-20, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Fauzi Ismail starred for the Jet Spikers with 21 points off 18 attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Howard Mojica added 16 markers in his first start of the season.

Air Force head coach Dante Alinsunurin said his players were determined to vindicate their loss to their fellow military men last May 21.

“May pride talaga for us kapag sila ang kalaban namin,” said Alinsunurin. “Ngayon sobrang importante ng bawat game. Kailangan namin lumaban talaga para may chance kami.”

PJ Rojas led Army with 18 points, while Benjaylo Labide added 16.

Air Force take on IEM (0-1) next Wednesday also at the FilOil Flying V Centre. Army (0-1) face PLDT (1-0) on Saturday.
