UST continues surge at Adamson’s expense

The University of Santo Tomas Tigers Spikers swept their way to their fifth straight win past Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22, in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, Saturday morning at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Josh Umandal powered through to lead the Espana-based squad with 23 points off 19 attacks, three aces, and a block. Meanwhile, team captain Wewe Medina finished with 10 points.

The Tigers dominated the Falcons with a huge 20-point margin on attacks, and used their timely chances on defense both at the net and on the ground to put the latter for good. That was the story of the match in all sets, despite the errors given up by UST.

Golden Spikers’ head coach Odjie Mamon was satisfied with how his wards ran the game despite the miscues. “Minimal coaching lang ginawa ko,” he said. “Hinayaan kong dumiskarte yung mga players.”
