Cocolife fends off gritty Sta. Lucia

The Cocolife Asset Managers nailed their second win in a row, dispelling the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-16, in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go/Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Asset Managers leaned on their foreign reinforcements to quell the Lady Realtors. Serbian Sara Klisura — who holds the league record for most points in a match — tallied 19 points, while American Taylor Milton added 16 markers.

After a horrid start, Cocolife regained composure through solid serving. The Asset Managers dropped nine aces on the Lady Realtors, and forced their foes to just a 20 percent receiving clip for the match.

“We started really bad but thanks God. We came back because of teamwork,” said Klisura.

“This is very important, every game is important, because it’s a much stronger Grand Prix than last year so every win counts and we have a lot of more games to play,” the prolific scoring import added.

Bohdana Anisova topped the Lady Realtors with 25 markers.

The Asset Managers (2-2) take on the Foton Tornadoes (1-1) on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. Sta. Lucia (1-2) face the Cignal HD Spikers (2-1) on Thursday.
