Undefeated Petron keeps Sta. Lucia stumbling

The Petron Blaze Spikers had no problem bagging their sixth win of the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference, overwhelming the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 25-9, 25-12, 25-6, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Petron quickly built double-digit leads in each set and never let Sta. Lucia sniff the lead. The Blaze Spikers stifled the Lady Realtors’ offense, raining 12 aces and limiting the Lady Realtors to just 15 attack points. They were also efficient, giving up a season-low 10 unforced errors.

“Talagang gusto lang namin maging consistent sa mga ginagawa namin,” said Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos of his team’s superb play.

“Siguro nga hindi maganda nilaro ng Sta. Lucia. Even then, kailangan naka-focus kami sa ginagawa namin sa loob ng court. Gusto namin mag-focus talaga,” added the national team tactician.

Mika Reyes topped Petron with 11 points, while veteran Ging Balse-Pabayo added 10 markers.

Souzan Raslan led Sta. Lucia with nine markers. Jho Maraguinot, the Lady Realtors’ best scorer, was limited to one point.

Petron (6-0) look to sweep the first round when they face the Foton Blue Energy (5-1) on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The Lady Realtors finished the first round winless in seven outings.
