Rod Ebondo, CEU snap Zark’s-Lyceum streak


Rod Ebondo tallied a game-high 33 points and the Centro Escolar University Scorpions outplayed Zark’s-Lyceum Jawbreakers in the closing minutes for a 91-85 victory, Tuesday afternoon at the Marikina Sports Center.

The Congolese student-athlete made it a double-double performance by hauling down 20 rebounds as the Scorpions remain undefeated in three games.

“We’re so happy dahil nanalo kami against LPU,” said coach Yong Garcia. “I’m very thankful to the players. Tinrabaho talaga nila yung panalo.”

Art Aquino chipped in 18 markers and his layup with 1:21 remaining put the CEU ahead to stay, 86-84.

Orlan Wamar finished with nine points and his three-point play with 25 seconds left practically sealed the win. He also had five rebounds, and three assists.

CJ Perez scored 17 points and his 3-pointer with 3:04 left tied the count at 84-all.

It turned out to be last stand for the Jawbreakers as the Scorpions went on a 7-1 run in the final 1:21 to snap Zark’s Burger-Lyceum
