Rod Ebondo, CEU pound Papi Sarr-less Akari-Adamson for bounce back win

The Centro Escolar University Scorpions frustrated the Akari-Adamson Soaring Falcons, 76-57, to gain a much-needed bounce back victory, Tuesday afternoon at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Rod Ebondo continued to tear shreds in the competition, this time dropping 25 points, 18 rebounds, and three blocks.

The Scorpions also garnered ample production from their locals, with Joseph Manlangit adding 13 markers and six boards, while Mark Neil Cruz chipping in nine points and eight rebounds.

CEU waxed hot early, jumping to a 19-4 advantage and keeping Akari-Adamson, even extending their lead to its biggest at 23, 74-51, midway in the fourth period.

“Talagang pinagtrabahuhan namin yung pinagensayuhan namin. Kaya rin maganda ang naging resulta ng game,” said coach Yong Garcia, as his wards returned to the top of the standings at 4-1.

Without Papi Sarr and Tyrus Hill to man the paint for the Falcons, the Scorpions crashed the boards, 57-42 to set up the stage for the dominant win.

Conrad Joey Catapusan paced Akari-Adamson (4-2) with 13 points and six rebounds, while Sean Manganti had 12 markers and three boards in the loss.
