UP, La Salle headline PGFlex Quintana Cup

The PGFlex Invitational Tournament 2026 Quintana Cup tips off on Thursday, Oct. 22, with UAAP rivals University of the Philippines and De La Salle University set to showcase their new-look lineups at the Paco Arena in Manila.

UP, the defending champion, dominated last year’s tournament behind the stellar performances of current Maroons stars Veejay Pre and James Payosing.

The Fighting Maroons will look to maintain their winning tradition as they welcome Bryan Manuel and CJ Singson to the fold, while Janti Miller leads La Salle’s campaign in the preseason showcase.

The two schools headline a strong field that includes reigning UCAL champion CEU, former champion Olivarez College, Diliman College, Manila Central University, NCAA’s Letran, and NAASCU’s St. Clare.

The twice-a-week preseason tournament will give participating schools an opportunity to evaluate their recruits and determine who can earn spots on their respective regular-season rosters.

“This tournament is not only for UCAL members but also for other schools who wish to determine the true worth of their new recruits,” said Tournament Director Horacio Lim. “We are giving them the chance to shine and get the attention of their coaches.”

PGFlex owner Nelson Guevarra is once again sponsoring the event to help the league discover promising players who could one day represent the country in major international competitions.

UP opens its campaign against the Diliman Blue Dragons at 5:45 p.m., while La Salle takes on the Manila Central University (MCU) Supremos at 7:30 p.m.

St. Clare and Letran kick off the opening-day triple-header at 4 p.m. of this event backed by Smart, PusoP.com, Hapee Toothpaste, Mighty Bond, Spalding, Maruyama, Gerry’s Grill, Crane, Vital Purified Water, and Akari.
