The Marinerong Pilipino Skippers cruised to their third straight victory as they drowned the AMA Online Education Titans, 109-93, Monday afternoon at the Pasig Sports Center.
Gab Banal anchored the victory with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists as the Skippers fired a superb 7-0 opening blast to seize control of the game, 36-16, at the end of the first quarter.
They would hold on to that lead, not letting the Titans get within 10, as they improved to 4-2 in the standings.
“The key here is understanding what we want to do, what we want to achieve. Everything just fell into place,” said coach Koy Banal
Rian Ayonayon also added 18 markers, six boards, five dimes, and four blocks in the all-out attack, where all but one of the 14 players who entered the game logged a field goal.
Marinerong Pilipino were simply stellar on both offense and defense in the tussle, shooting on a 47-percent clip — which was bolstered by their 30 assists — while also controlling the boards, 61-44.
Arvin Tolentino led AMA Online Education with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Robbie Manalang got 15 markers, four boards, and four dimes, as the Titans fell to 1-4.
