Sta. Lucia crushes still-winless Cherrylume, books date with Cocolife

The Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors crushed win-less the Cherrylume Iron Lady Warriors in straight sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-20, Tuesday evening at the Imus City Sports Complex in Cavite City.

The win punched in Sta. Lucia’s ticket for the battle for fifth on Saturday, July 8. The Lady Realtors will take on the Cocolife Asset Managers.

MJ Phillips led all scorers with 21 points, while former University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigress Pam Lastimosa added 14 markers.

The whole game was heavily dominated by the Lady Realtors as they only allowed the UE-laden Cherrylume to reach 20 points on the third set. MJ Phillips took advantage of Cherrylume’s poor reception as she targeted every hole in their defense.

Sta. Lucia were winless in the last Invitational Conference of PSL but now managed to better their record this All-Filipino Conference with three wins so far.

“Siyempre nakapanalo na kami ng tatlo compared dun sa invitational. Our management is very thankful about that, happy sila kasi kumbaga team namin bago, ibig sabihin niyan, nakita nila improvement namin,” Coach Sammy Acaylar shared.

On Saturday, July 8, they will face the Cocolife Asset Managers in Lipa City to decide who gets the fifth spot.

“Cocolife isa sa mga teams na bago tulad namin. Hungry din kami sa panalo para makapwesto talaga. Alam namin na pinagaaralan kami kaya pagaaralin din namin sila,” Acaylar who also heads the Men’s National Volleyball Team said.

Cherrylume’s Seth Rodriguez and Mary Ann Mendrez listed eight and six points respectively.
