Michael Juico, Wangs hand Zark’s 41-point romping

The Wangs Basketball Couriers staged a scintillating third quarter showing to coast to a 133-92 victory over the Zark’s Jawbreakers to nab their fourth win, Monday afternoon at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Clamping down on defense after the close 56-50 halftime affair, the Couriers capitalized on the Jawbreakers’ miscues, turning the latter’s 22 turnovers to 33 easy points that allowed them to pour 46 in the period and take a 102-62 advantage.

“Gusto talaga namin no easy shots yung kalaban. Sumunod na lang yung opensa namin,” said coach Pablo Lucas, as Wangs improve to a 4-3 record.

Filipino-American swingman Robbie Herndon captained that huge run, firing 11 of his 26 points in the third frame, while also collecting six rebounds and five assists

Michael Juico powered the Couriers with 30 markers, 12 boards, and six dimes, while John Ambulodto had 16 points and six rebounds.

Zark’s suffered their third straight defeat and fell to a 1-6 slate, as they wasted Robby Celiz’ 37 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

RR de Leon added 18 markers and six boards, and Clark Bautista had 15 in the losing effort.

Wangs will next face the AMA Online Education Titans on Tuesday, July 11, while Zark’s will have a tough task in their next outing as they take on the Tanduay Rhum Masters on Monday, July 10.
