15 y/o Atenean sets Asian record for Rubik’s one-handed solving

Reigning 3x3x3 One-Handed world champion Sean Patrick Villanueva once again asserted his dominance in his event after resetting the Asian Record by registering an 8.64 seconds average at the Santa Cruz Speedcubing 2024 in Santa Cruz, Laguna.

He eclipsed the 8.98 seconds average set by Indonesian pride Fahmi Aulia Rachman back in 2022.

Villanueva, who is a Grade 10 student at Ateneo High School, took the title in the WCA Rubiks World Championship last August in South Korea with a 9.42 seconds average.

His newest record, which catapulted him to second in the world, is just 0.03 seconds away from the world record set by American prodigy Max Park.

Villanueva is already a former Asian Record holder after also setting the 3x3x3 Cube average with a 5.98 seconds average in 2019, the first Asian to break the sub-6 seconds barrier.
