SiPons shifts focus to beach volleyball

Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons are shifting their focus on beach volleyball, teeming with desire to bring glory to the Philippines.

Multiple sources closely monitoring the situation bared to Tiebreaker Times that Rondina and Pons will be putting their full commitment on the sands throughout the course of 2020. Thus, veering away from the indoor circuit.

Widely known as SiPons, the celebrated duo is set to participate in Beach Volleyball Republic tilts, as well as FIVB tournaments, as per the sources.

Rondina and Pons are riding the crest of their Southeast Asian Games’ success.

There, they captured a bronze medal alongside the pair of Dzi Gervacio and Dij Rodriguez, giving the country its first beach volleyball medal in the biennial meet since the third-place finish of Diane Pascua and Heidi Illustre last 2005.

But that was not the only triumphant moment they’ve had as a tandem.

The über-athletic duo completed a couple of perfect championship campaigns in the 2017 and 2018 PSL Beach Volleyball Cup.

Rondina and Pons also had a dominant title conquest of the 2019 Rebisco Beach Volleyball International Open. And not to mention their stint in the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Boracay Open, where they made it all the way to quarterfinals.

With two of the finest beach spikers at the helm of the Philippines’ outdoor program, expect Rondina and Pons to spare no effort in a bid to elevate the country’s level of play on the sands.
