Reden Celda apparently did not have an opt-out clause in his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines and the MPBL have taken action on the improper and untimely exit of Celda from the team.
Celda, 30, signed with Philippine Basketball Association team NLEX.
In the ongoing fourth season of the MPBL, Celda played 14 games for Zamboanga FBS, averaging 7.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds.
Four days after Zamboanga’s game against Mindoro last October 4, Celda played for NLEX when they went up against Phoenix Super LPG.
Celda is currently averaging 1.8 points and 1.0 rebounds in four games played in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
In a letter by the MPBL, Celda violated multiple sections in his uniform player’s contract in the league, including “players are not allowed to play in two or more leagues.”
The league has also suspended Celda indefinitely from any and all official games and activities.
Meanwhile, the league has also given notice to the Games and Amusements Board with regards to the matter.
The MPBL has called on GAB to suspend or revoke Celda’s professional license.
