UST Sophomore Ysa Jimenez had a bad landing during the warm-up activities and twisted her left ankle before the UST Golden Tigresses’ 2019 PVL Collegiate Conference opener against Lyceum, Sunday.
“Actually patapos na ‘yung warm-up, magse-serve na kami. ‘Pag landing niya lang nadulas, magisa lang siya doon,” UST head coach Kungfu Reyes said.
The incoming UST sophomore is expected to be out of the playing field for at least six weeks.
“Initial assessment magbibilang kami ng recovery from six weeks,” Reyes added
The UST wing spiker was then carried back to their dugout, where she was attended to by the team’s staff.
“Ang masama nito grabe ang maga so pagkadulas niyang ganun may tumunog daw so very unusual yung pagkakamaga ng paa so we decided na ER agad namin bago ER nagbabad muna kami sa timba,” Reyes shared.
Based on the team’s initial assessment, Jimenez has only incurred a “negative fracture” on her left ankle.
The Collegiate Conference is bound to run for at least eight to nine weeks. If Jimenez makes a speedy recovery, she’ll be back in time for UST in the crucial stages of the tourney.
