Xie Wei looks to pull shocker in Manila against Danny Kingad

Cautious but confident — that is exactly what Xie “The Hunter” Wei will be when he shares the stage with ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship finalist Danny “The King” Kingad.

The pair of exciting flyweights are set to tangle on the main card of ONE: Fire and Fury this Friday, January 31 at the SM Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Xie looks to leave an indelible mark in his ONE Championship main roster debut after a rousing career in the ONE Hero Series.

Now it is all about bringing that same momentum this Friday.

“I am excited because I can finally walk into the international stage and fight with those international fighters,” Xie expressed.

“I am nervous because he is a very good fighter. I need to give a hundred percent of my strength to face him. I understand his ability and that’s why I need to respect him.”

Asked about his assessment on the Team Lakay dynamo, “The Hunter” had nothing but good things to say.

“I think he is a very good fighter. I have watched his fights. He has almost never lost in his career,” says Xie.

“His strengths are his punching, wrestling, jiu-jitsu. I feel he is a very comprehensive fighter.”

Still, the Chinese athlete has proved he is no slouch on the feet as well. He has won all five of his bouts by TKO or KO.

Not wanting to give a prediction, though, Xie plans to focus on himself as he looks for the upset in Manila.

“I think all I have to do is focus on myself and give what I have been trained [to do]. I will show my skills and my spirit.”

Will “The Hunter” pull off a monumental shocker against the hometown hero? Find out at ONE: FIRE & FURY on January 31 at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
