Xavy Nunag takes leave of absence as UAAP basketball commissioner due to family health crisis


The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has expressed its understanding and support for Basketball Commissioner Xavier Nunag’s decision to take a leave of absence, citing a family health crisis as the reason.

The UAAP, recognizing the gravity of the situation, stands firmly behind Nunag’s choice to prioritize his family’s well-being during this challenging period.

Nunag also recommended Deputy Commissioner Atty. Mariana Lopa to assume the role of acting commissioner during his absence.

This recommendation has been wholeheartedly approved by the Board of Managing Directors.

The appointment aims to guarantee the seamless operation of technical basketball matters within the league, maintaining the high standards that the UAAP upholds.

Deputy Commissioner Marvin Bienvenida will continue in his role, providing essential support to ensure the smooth functioning of the league’s technical operations.

Furthermore, UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rene Saguisag Jr. will continue to serve as a vital check and balance. His presence ensures transparency and fair play in all league activities, safeguarding the principles that the UAAP holds dear.

During this trying time, the UAAP extends its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Commissioner Nunag and his family.
