Glutagence halted its two-game slide, escaping Taguig, 65-59, in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021, Sunday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
A layup by Lady General Tin Capilit at the 3:26 mark of the payoff period slashed the Glow Boosters lead to just three, 60-57.
However, Capilit was called for a flagrant foul penalty 1 on April Lualhati with 2:33 left, forcing the former to sit down for the next three minutes, basically the rest of the way.
Lualhati then scored the next five points of the match to extend Glutagence’s margin to eight, 65-57, with 1:20 left.
Glutagence cruised to a huge 25-9 advantage after the first frame, however, Taguig retaliated with a 22-4 second frame to go ahead at halftime, 31-29.
Lualhati had her best game for the Glow Boosters with 19 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and a block.
First overall pick Fille Cainglet added 12 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals, while Raiza Palmera-Dy chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
After back-to-back losses against Pacific Water and Parañaque, the Glow Boosters improved to 4-2 after the victory, still at second place.
Capilit paced Taguig with 14 points and three rebounds but committed four turnovers.
Marichu Bacaro also had a field day off the bench with 14 points on a 7-of-8 clip from the charity stripe.
Wiz Duazon backstopped her with 10 points and 12 rebounds in 22 minutes of floor time as the Lady Generals dropped to .500 at 2-2.
