Will Gozum out vs Lyceum due to NCAA 98 Finals incident

Will Gozum will serve a one-game suspension resulting from an incident that occurred during Game 3 of the NCAA Season 98 Seniors Basketball Finals on Sunday, when College of Saint Benilde faces Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Gozum, the reigning league MVP, was caught headbutting Pao Javillonar, who had clashed with earlier in the series, resulting in a disqualifying foul. The incident took place with 1:44 remaining in the game.

This suspension will significantly impact the Blazers in their season opener, as Gozum was their leading scorer.

The 6-foot-7 big man averaged 16.73 points, 9.41 rebounds, 1.68 assists, and 1.14 blocks per game last season.

Despite this setback, Benilde had defeated Lyceum in both of their meetings last season.

It is still being deliberated on whether Gozum will be eligible for post-season awards.
