Washington returns to Globalport after Talk ‘N Text acquires Miranda

Forward Jay Washington returns to the Globalport Batang Pier after a one-on-one deal involving his incumbent squad Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, the PBA approved Monday.

In the transaction, the Tropang Texters will receive veteran playmaker Denok Miranda, who averaged 7.3 PPG and 2.1 APG in the 2014-15 season.

Washington played for the Batang Pier during the 2013-14 season where he averaged 15.6 PPG and 7 RPG.

The 6-foot-7 forward won back to back Best Player of the Conference awards with the San Miguel Beermen in 2010 and 2011.

With a stacked frontline that includes Danny Seigle, Ranidel de Ocampo, and Kelly Williams, Washington saw limited action for Talk ‘N Text in the previous season where he averaged 7 PPG and 3.9 RPG.

Miranda played for the Batang Pier and Barako Bull Energy throughout the past two seasons where he was hampered by injuries.

He is expected to come off the bench for a team with Kevin Alas and Ryan Reyes at the backcourt position.

Washington’s return gives Globalport a more versatile forward who can stretch the floor and contribute on offense.
