2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

VIDEO: SMART Gilas needs your support like never before

In just a few hours, SMART Gilas Pilipinas takes on its biggest challenge so far in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers as they face 10th-ranked team in the world Australia.

Gilas and Australia are currently tied at the top of Group B with identical 2-0 slates.

The Philippines defeated Japan on the road, 77-71, last November 24, before beating Chinese-Taipei at home, 90-83, three days later.

Australia, on the other hand, romped Chinese-Taipei in the latter’s home floor, 104-66, before stifling Japan, 104-66, in Adelaide.

Talent-wise, Gilas head coach Chot Reyes sees little advantage against the Boomers. Still, he is hoping that every Filipino out there show their support through social media and through prayers.

“Sa ating mga kababayan, napakalakas ng ating makakalaban. Maglalaro sila sa kanilang bahay kaya ang panglaban lang naman dito ay inyong mga dasal,” he said.

“We need your support like never before.”
