Vhoris Marasigan to miss Ateneo clash following one-game suspension

De La Salle University forward Vhoris Marasigan has received a one-game suspension after receiving a disqualifying foul during the Green Archers’ UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball matchup against National University last Sunday, November 2.

Marasigan will serve his suspension when La Salle battles archrival Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday, November 9, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The suspension stems from an incident at the 4:52 mark of the second quarter, prior to an inbound play, when Marasigan threw a closed left fist to the abdomen of NU big man Omar John.

The act resulted in his immediate disqualification from the game.

This marks Marasigan’s second infraction of the season. His first came on September 27 against the University of Santo Tomas, where he was called for an unsportsmanlike foul (criteria 1) after swinging his left hand toward the lower part of Kyle Paranada’s body with 8:14 left in regulation.

Through 10 games this season, Marasigan has averaged 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists for the Green Archers, providing energy off the bench for head coach Topex Robinson.

La Salle, however, may file a motion for reconsideration regarding the UAAP’s decision.
