Villaraza & Angangco Law recently celebrated its 45th anniversary with the inaugural Pancho Villaraza Cup — an event that served not just as a tournament, but as a tribute to the Firm’s enduring legacy and to the man who laid its foundation: the late founder and former Chairman and CEO, F. Arthur “Pancho” L. Villaraza.
Held at the 18-hole West Course of the Wack Wack Golf & Country Club, the Pancho Villaraza Cup brought together over a hundred players and golf enthusiasts — including clients, colleagues, and friends of the Firm — for a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and celebration.
The tournament kicked off with a ceremonial tee-off led by Artie L. Villaraza, brother of the late Pancho Villaraza; Raoul R. Angangco, V&A Law Chairman and CEO; and Bienvenido I. Somera, Jr., V&A Law Senior Partner.
The lunch and awarding ceremony was graced by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, joined by Deputy House Speaker David “Jayjay” C. Suarez. Also in attendance was former Ambassador of the Philippines to India and Nepal, Ramon “Dondon” S. Bagatsing Jr.
This landmark event is part of a series of initiatives in celebration of V&A Law’s 45th anniversary.
Among these are the first Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Southeast Asia Regional Conference held in Manila, a blood donation drive in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross, an orphanage outreach program, and a Firm-wide bowling tournament — all underscoring the Firm’s commitment to building strong ties within its community.
Up next in V&A Law’s anniversary series are exclusive dinners for clients and the much-anticipated annual V&A Law Sportsfest.
Looking forward, the Pancho Villaraza Cup is set to become a new tradition — celebrating excellence not only in the legal profession but also in the sport of golf.
