V-League: San Beda runs roughshod on San Sebastian to even slate

San Beda University rose to the third spot after sweeping San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-23, 27-25, 25-22, in the 2022 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, Sunday at the Paco Arena.

Kevin Mayor led the way with 10 points while Andrie Bakil and Axel Book chipped in nine points each as the Red Spikers moved to 2-2 in the Pool B standings.

“Yun nga, pinaghahandaan naman talaga namin. Yung lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila, ‘wag mag-relax. Play all kasi kami e, so kung sinong may magandang laro, yun talaga yung mabababad o makakatagal sa loob ng court,” said San Beda head coach Ariel Dela Cruz.

“Yun, big win sa amin kasi na straight sets namin yung San Sebastian kasi magaling din sila. So yung kumpyansa nandiyan na,” he added.

Kyle Villamor spearheaded the Golden Stags with 14 points while Joshua Espenida chipped in 12 markers.

San Sebastian slipped to 0-3.

San Beda will go up against Perpetual on Friday at 1:00 PM while San Sebastian will take on Far Eastern University at 5:00 PM on the same day.
