V-League: Go, CSB whip San Beda to go 2-0 in Pool B

College of St. Benilde made quick work of fellow NCAA squad San Beda University, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19, for its second consecutive win in the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge, Wednesday at the Paco Arena.

The Lady Blazers, who upped their standing to 2-0, are now a win away from sweeping Pool B and clinching the top seed.

Team captain Mycah Go flaunted all-around numbers of nine points on six attacks and three services to go along with 12 excellent digs and five excellent receptions in the game which only ran for an hour and 17 minutes.

“Yun nga medyo slow start (nung third set) pero every rally lang na-overcome naman namin yung points so less errors lang talaga yung kailangan namin each game, yun lang,” said Benilde assistant coach Jay Chua.

“Siguro sa next game alisin lang namin yung slow start namin, dapat maging aggressive kami sa simula hanggang sa dulo para tuloy tuloy kami,” he added.

After taking the first two sets with ease, Benilde trailed for the most part of the third frame before Cloanne Mondenedo’s steady hands from the service line helped the Lady Blazers put up an 8-0 finishing kick that turned a 17-19 disadvantage into a 25-19 win.

Angel Habacon led the 0-2 Lady Red Spikers with 13 points on 11 attacks, a block, and an ace to go along with six digs and three receptions.

Benilde looks to complete its Pool B sweep against University of the Philippines on Friday at 5:00 PM while San Beda will take on University of Sto. Tomas at 1:00 PM earlier that day.
