Far Eastern University made short work of San Beda University, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19, in the 2022 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge at Paco Arena on Sunday morning.
The Tamaraws used 13 of their 14 available players, with all of them entering the scoring column except the two liberos.
Captain Mark Calado had eight points in the bounce-back win for FEU, who dropped a five-setter against University of Perpetual Help in its opener, while Ariel Cacao facilitated with 16 excellent sets.
Jose Javelona chipped in seven points, while France Racaza got six points in just a set of work for the Tamaraws who improved to 1-1 in Pool B.
“Ang sarap maglaro sa V-League kasi lahat ng team naghanda, lahat ng team malalakas. Good game para sa players namin kasi every game naman all out yan,” said FEU coach Rey Diaz after the 75 minute victory.
The Red Spikers, who slid to 1-2, zoomed to an 8-6 lead in the third frame but that was it as the Tamaraws just pulled away using a 14-5 blast.
San Beda, which will be back on November 6 against San Sebastian College-Recoletos, was paced by Kevin Montemayor’s nine points.
FEU will have a long break as well and will return on November 4 against pool-leading Ateneo (2-0).
