V.League: Bagunas scores 13, but rest of Oita Miyoshi falters vs Nagoya

Oita Miyoshi could not repeat its magic yesterday, falling to Nagoya in straight sets, 20-25, 18-25, 20-25, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Cycle Shop Kodama Osu Arena.

Bryan Bagunas was the lone Weisse Adler in double figures with 13 points. He went 12-of-25 in his attacks, alongside a block.

After going off for 40 points yesterday, Bartosz Kurek had 24 points on 19 attacks, three blocks, and two service aces. He also connected on 73.1 percent of his spikes, an improvement from his 58.5 percent last game.

Kenta Takanashi added 12 points of his own, while Yamazaki Akito got nine points.

The Wolfdogs got back in the win column and rose to 11-7 –  just half a game behind Panasonic at fifth seed.

Oita Miyoshi’s Venezuelan import Emerson Rodriguez came off the bench. He finished with just seven points.

Shodai Abe and Kenta Koga connived for 15 points.

On the other hand, the Weisse Adler fell to 5-17.

Bagunas and Oita will next face Marck Espejo and his FC Tokyo on Saturday at the Sumida City Gymnasium, 1:00 PM.
