UST’s Faye, La Salle’s Austria suspended for one game

University of Santo Tomas will not have its big man when it faces Far Eastern University on Wednesday at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Adama Faye was meted a one-game suspension after being called for disqualifying foul during their game against University of the East last Sunday.

During a rebounding skirmish, Faye elbowed Harvey Pagsanjan with 56 seconds left in the third quarter of the game.

Faye is averaging 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks for the Growling Tigers.

Meanwhile, CJ Austria will also be suspended for one game for a “flagrant unsportsmanlike foul with no direct play for the ball” he committed during their game against Far Eastern University last Saturday.

The incident occurred with 5:59 left in the third quarter of the game when he tried to stop a Patrick Sleat fastbreak but clotheslined the Tamaraw.

Austria, a sophomore, is averaging 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals for the Green Archers.

Austria will serve the suspension when La Salle faces National University on Wednesday.

Both Faye and Austria will also be summoned by league commissioner Dickie Bachmann on Wednesday.
