Jordi Gomez De Liaño was officially welcomed by University of Santo Tomas, Monday morning.
The 6-foot-5 guard out of UPIS received his Growling Tigers cap and jacket in a simple meeting held at the Quadricentennial Pavilion in Espana, Manila.
Present were Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director Fr. Rodel Cansancio; athletics moderator Rodrigo Sambuang; and team booster Ryan Roxas.
Also present were Growling Tigers coaching staff, headed by head coach Jinino Manansala and assistant coaches McJour Luib and Joph Cleopas.
Meanwhile, with Jordi was his dad Bert and mom Anna.
Gomez de Liaño’s commitment was significant to the Growling Tigers since they are rebuilding in the wake of several departures.
For the youngster, it was surreal to step into UST after six years in UPIS.
“Definitely felt very welcoming and comforting to be here as everyone welcomed me with open arms — from the coaching staff to the environment,” he said.
“A very surreal moment for me.”
According to Manansala, Gomez de Liaño will wear jersey no. 6. Mark Nonoy previously wore the number previously; he left for La Salle last year.
