University of Santo Tomas will welcome a new addition to its staff as it commences preparations for UAAP Season 87.
Champion coach Juno Sauler is set to join Pido Jarencio’s coaching staff, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, as reported by Tiebreaker Times.
One source from Tiebreaker Times mentioned that the addition of Sauler to the Growling Tigers’ staff received approval from San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua.
Having Sauler as part of UST’s coaching staff is anticipated to bring positive outcomes for the team.
Sauler, 50, is a La Salle legend and holds a prestigious position in the UAAP.
He secured three UAAP women’s basketball championships, guiding the Lady Archers to success from UAAP seasons 62 to 64.
In 2013, he led the Green Archers to victory in UAAP Season 76, becoming one of the few coaches to win gold in two divisions.
After parting ways with DLSU in 2015, Sauler joined the Magnolia coaching staff.
Last December – after UST’s campaign ended, the thought of being part of the Tigers’ staff was presented to Sauler, which he agreed to early this year.
Now, he is making a return to the UAAP, donning UST’s black and gold instead of La Salle’s green and white.
