Uratex proudly claimed the title of the inaugural champion of the Women’s PBA Invitational.
Shanda Anies and Eunique Chan took turns torching Gilas B to secure a convincing 22-15 victory and clinch the title in the revived women’s three-a-side tournament that concluded on Monday at Ayala Malls Glorietta.
Anies finished with 10 points, including the title-clinching deuce, while Chan added eight for Uratex, the no. 2 seeded team that advanced to the semifinals.
Samantha Harada and Kaye Pingol rounded out the scoring for the Dream team under the coaching of Kat Quimpo.
In an earlier match, Uratex survived a tough challenge from former national team player Allana Lim and Angelis Resort in their semifinal encounter, securing a narrow 21-20 victory to advance to the finals.
Pingol sealed the victory with a free throw, ending the bid of the Lady Splashers, who were led by the 12 points of Lim.
Meanwhile, Gilas B pulled off a surprise upset against top-seeded Philippine Navy-Go For Gold, winning 19-15 in the other semifinal pairing to set up the title showdown with Uratex.
Mary Snow Penaranda finished with eight points in the runner-up finish for Gilas B, coached by Mark Solano.
