UP’s Lina, Diouf lend helping hand to Maginhawa pantry

Members from the University of the Philippines’ men’s basketball team went to various community pantries in the Diliman area last Wednesday.

New recruits Bismarck Lina and Malick Diouf joined NoWhereToGoButUP foundation’s Renan Dalisay and Atty. Gaby Concepcion to distribute goods and essentials to the community pantries near the school.

“Na-inspire po ako sa ginawa ni Ms. Patricia [Non], kaya ako nag-decide na tumulong sa community pantries of UP,” said 20-year-old Lina.

“Iba po ‘yung feeling na nakatulong ako sa kapwa ko na nangangailangan sa panahon ng pandemya.”

The essentials went to the pantry organized by the UP Transport Group.

Lina is hoping that other student-athletes also give back to their respective communities, especially in these trying times.

“Bilang atleta, kailangan po namin maging role models.

“Kaya mahalaga na maipakita namin lalo na sa mga kabataan na napakalaking bagay ang pagtulong sa kapwa sa ganitong panahon,” said Lina, a member of the All-UAAP Season 82 team.
