UP cruises past CTE U22 team to open Interleague Play run


University of the Philippines (UP) dominated its 2024 Interleague Play campaign opener on Saturday evening, cruising past Chinese Taipei’s Under-22 Elite Team, 82-47, at Keelung Gymnasium in Taiwan.

Every Fighting Maroon player contributed to the scoreboard, with Nigerian big man Dikachi Udodo leading the charge with 15 points and five rebounds.

Quentin Millora-Brown, who helped UP get off to a strong start, added eight points on 4-of-6 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds.

UP began the game hot, holding the hosts to just nine points in the first 10 minutes.

From that point on, it was all UP, as they maintained a double-digit lead until the final buzzer.

The Fighting Maroons dominated the boards, outrebounding their opponents 52-27.

The backcourt duo of Gerry Abadiano and Terrence Fortea, along with Mark Belmonte, each contributed nine points.

Liao Weihao and Wang Weixiang paced Chinese-Taipei with eight points each.

UP will face the Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation select team next on Sunday.
