Chester Tolomia, a former PBA player, showed his resilience once again by scoring 35 points and leading the Judiciary Magis to a 70-60 victory over the NHA Home Masters in the 9th UNTV Cup at Manila’s Paco Arena on Thursday.
Despite being 43 years old, Tolomia demonstrated his skill by recording 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal, resulting in a double-double performance.
The win was the Magis’ fourth in six games, and they are now tied with the Home Masters, DENR, and PNP for the second to fifth spots in the tournament.
The competition, which is organized by BMPI-UNTV CEO Dr. Daniel Razon for public servants, has become more exciting as the race for the two outright semis berths heats up.
The DENR Warriors defeated the OP-PMS Trailblazers 112-71, while the PNP Responders overcame the GSIS Furies 88-86, with Ralph Lansang and Des Ayson and Olan Omiping leading the charge, respectively.
In addition to Tolomia’s impressive performance, the Magis also received a valuable contribution from Frederick Salamat, who scored 15 points and had two assists, helping them secure the victory.
The Furies and the Trailblazers, on the other hand, have fallen to seventh and eighth place in the standings, respectively, with identical 3-3 records.
