While Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon have already confirmed that UAAP Season 87 will be their final campaign with National University, Camilla Lamina remains undecided about her future.
Like Belen and Solomon, Lamina is in her fourth playing year with the Lady Bulldogs.
However, for now, the 22-year-old playmaker from Guimaras remains fully focused on guiding NU to a second consecutive championship in the UAAP.
“Wala pa. Wala pa akong iniisip. Mas nagfo-focus ako ngayon sa team ko na hopefully ma-reach namin yung goal namin,” said Lamina on Wednesday after NU’s dominant 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 victory over Ateneo de Manila University.
“Sobrang gusto ko talaga manalo nitong season kasi sobrang competitive din namin, and sana maging maganda yung exit ng mga seniors namin.”
NU has been off to a blistering start, sweeping De La Salle University in straight sets during opening weekend. They then dismantled Ateneo in another three-set rout on Wednesday.
Against the Blue Eagles, Lady Bulldogs head coach Sherwin Meneses gave all 14 players in the lineup a chance to step onto the court, including second-string setter Abegail Pono.
For Lamina, whether she stays or moves on after this season, she takes comfort in knowing that the setter position will remain in capable hands.
“I’m so happy kanina kay Abegail Pono kasi bago pa lang siyang ipasok, alam kong ready na siya. Alam niya na yung maiko-contribute niya sa team kasi napakagaling ng bata na ‘yun kung alam niyo lang po,” she said.
