After seeing Talk ‘N Text finally end a four-game losing skid, Tropang Texters head coach Jong Uichico remains positive and hopes his wards can continue to rise in the team standings of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Tropang Texters pulled off a win against a gritty Blackwater side Friday, 98-91 to improve to 4-5 and remain in contention for one of the slots in the quarterfinals.
“Alam naman nila ang sitwasyon so nanalo kami. We still have two games so we have to keep working and play very well,” Uichico said.
“Hopefully things turn around and [this] is the time to do it right now.”
The Tropang Texters trailed by 9, 41-50 entering the second half although adjusted well after hitting 7 of 11 triples in the final 24 minutes and assisting 12 of their 19 made field goals.
Uichico added the problem is mainly on their side, so it’s up to his troops to adjust as they still hold control of their fate.
“We have to take care of ourselves. It is more on our side and not the opponent’s side. It’s a little of everything. The rotation, how we have been working, and how we suffer too much on the end of the floor and how we can play with that rotation,” he said.
The Tropang Texters battle Star and Kia for their final two matches in the elimination round, and the seasoned mentor is taking it one game at a time.
“We have to get to the playoffs first so we need to win our next two games. We don’t have the luxury to look ahead.”
