UE’s Dexter Santos suspended for disqualifying foul vs Ududo

University of the East’s Dexter Santos will sit out the Red Warriors’ next game after being handed a one-game suspension for a disqualifying foul in the UAAP Season 89 Collegiate Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Santos will serve his suspension when UE takes on De La Salle University on Wednesday, October 21, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The incident occurred with 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter, as players battled for rebounding position following a shot attempt against University of the Philippines.

Santos used his right forearm to hit UP’s Dikachi Udodo on the back of the head before striking the Fighting Maroons big man in the face with the same arm.

The contact was initially called an unsportsmanlike foul before being upgraded to a disqualifying foul following a review through the Instant Replay System.

Santos is playing 13 minutes a game for UE, appearing in all seven games so far.
