UST’s Sisi Rondina-Babylove Barbon puts golden end to an era

With her rookie partner Babylove Barbon, University of Santo Tomas’ Sisi Rondina completed a historic run, sweeping the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Beach Volleyball tournament after drubbing De La Salle University’s Michelle Morente and Tin Tiamzon in the Finals, (21-12, 21,19) in Game One then (21-7, 21-16) at the Sands SM By the Bay.

Rondina leaves the UAAP beach volleyball competition having won her last 19 matches, dating back to the Season 79 Finals. She also graduates with her fourth beach title, the most by any player.

The Tigresses dominated every set except for the second set of Game One. La Salle’s Morente served tough, while Tiamzon used her height to stifle UST at the net. The Lady Spikers eventually pushed UST to an 18-all tie, before Barbon gutted out the two of the last three points.

UST never lost a set in the tournament.

La Salle claim silver – their best finish since winning the Season 78 title.
