FEU arrests two-game slide, greases Adamson’s skid

After two disappointing outings, the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws got a reprieve with a quick 25-9, 25-20, 25-11 win over the struggling Adamson University Lady Falcons, Sunday afternoon at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

FEU dominated the entire match, except in the second set, when the Lady Falcons took a 9-5 lead. FEU head coach Shaq Delos Santos saw this as his team’s habit surrendering errors.

“As usual, nagka-problema sa service namin at sa service namin. Lagi namin nire-remind sa kanila na kailangan naka-focus lang kami lalo na sa mga aspect na yan,” said Delos Santos.

Aside from that, FEU controlled the match. Of the Lady Falcons’ 40 total points, 23 came from FEU’s errors.

FEU’s third-year opposite hitter Toni Basas tallied 16 points, while Remy Palma and Bernadeth Pons each had 10 markers.

The Lady Tamaraws remain in fifth place with a 5-4 record. They take on the league-leading Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles (7-1) on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Skipper Jema Galanza was one of only four Lady Falcons who recorded a point, with seven.

The Lady Falcons slide to their 16th straight loss. They face the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses (5-3) on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
