UAAP POW Kent Pastrana seeks consistency come second round

Kent Pastrana found her groove just at the right time for the University of Santo Tomas.

Pastrana anchored the Tigresses with a 2-0 record during the period of October 16-22, earning her the accolade of the Women’s Player of the Week from the Collegiate Press Corps.

The UAAP Season 82 Rookie of the Year took it upon herself to lead UST in the women’s division, helping the team bounce back from two consecutive losses with a resounding 90-67 victory over Ateneo, followed by an 82-66 win against Far Eastern University (FEU) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.

Pastrana concluded the week with impressive statistics, averaging 22.5 points per game, including a 28-point performance against FEU, along with 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals, and 2.5 assists. Her contributions propelled UST to the No. 3 spot with a 5-2 record.

She outshone NU’s Ann Pingol and Ateneo’s Jhaz Joson for the weekly award.

“Gagawin ko pa rin po yung best ko every game po. Lahat po kami gagagawin yung best namin hanggang makukuha namin yung panalo every game. Magtitiwala pa rin po kami sa isa’t isa. Siyempre, hindi ko naman po kaya na mag-isa. Pagkakatiwalaan ko rin yung mga kasama ko. Kaya namin gawin lahat kasi andyan yung mga coaches namin,” she said after the game against FEU.

UST will face the league-leader UP in the women’s division on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum to kick off the second round.
