The University Athletic Association of the Philippines, in coordination with its broadcast partner Cignal, has announced the postponement of the remaining Day 2 matches of the 2024 UAAP Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Tournament.
This decision comes after encountering hardware and technical difficulties just before the start of the University of the East vs. University of the Philippines group stage match on Sunday at Hyundai Hall, Arete Ateneo in Quezon City.
The announcement was made to players and team staff approximately hours after the conclusion of the earlier match between National University and Ateneo de Manila University.
The postponed group stage matches will now be rescheduled for Tuesday, August 20, and will be played behind closed doors. There will be no livestream or audience permitted for these matches.
Earlier in the day, the University of Santo Tomas started Day 2 with an impressive 2-0 sweep over Adamson University, followed by National University’s 2-0 victory against Ateneo de Manila University.
With the cancellation of the remaining Day 2 matches, NU and UST currently lead Groups A and B, respectively.
The matches originally scheduled for Tuesday will proceed as planned and will be broadcast on One Sports’ YouTube channel, Pilipinas Live, the Varsity Channel, and One Sports.
