The up-and-down UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball campaign of the Adamson University Lady Falcons ended on a high.
The Lady Falcons provided their best end-to-end performance, sweeping the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, 25-6, 25-23, 25-23, at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Dominant in the first set, Adamson had to stave off late rallies from UST in the next two sets. Fittingly, graduating players Jema Galanza, Fhen Emnas, and Mylene Paat buoyed the Lady Falcons in the crucial stages of the match.
The match ended symbolically as Galanza passed to Emnas who set for Paat for the match’s final point — the final point the trio would cobble together for their UAAP career.
“We went into this game just wanting to beat our demons. The entire season there was a lot of reluctance on our part. I just told the players that we had a chance to end our season our way. I’m glad that they showed up today,” said second-year Adamson head coach Air Padda.
Paat finished with 13 points while Galanza had 12. Emnas added five markers and 24 excellent sets.
The Lady Falcons ended the season in fifth with a 6-8 record.
Cherry Rondina led the Tigresses with 15 markers.
UST captain Shanen Palec served in her final UAAP game.
The Golden Tigresses stumbled to seventh with a 4-10 record.
