University of Santo Tomas extended its perfect run to four matches with a commanding 25-10, 25-12, 25-15 victory over Adamson University in the UAAP Season 87 High School Boys’ Volleyball Tournament on Sunday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
UST’s Sean Cruz made his presence felt at the net, recording five blocks along with four attacks and an ace, in the match that lasted just over an hour.
Paolo Medino also contributed 10 points, tallying seven kills and two aces.
Jefferson Abalos efficiently orchestrated the Junior Golden Spikers’ offense, finishing with 14 excellent sets.
UST head coach Clarence Esteban praised his team’s effort, noting the momentum they carried from their four-set win over NUNS last Wednesday: “Maganda ‘yung movement ng players namin, nasa high spirit ‘yung mga galaw ng mga player ko so dala-dala nila ‘yung pagkapanalo namin doon sa last game namin. So high intensity ‘yung ginagawa nila, less errors ‘yung ginagawa nila. So maganda ‘yung outcome at naging resulta ng laro namin ngayon.
“Siguro doon sa areas of improvement siguro mas maging agile sila doon sa mga movement namin. So mas maging agresibo sana sila, less error ‘yung mangyari doon sa gagawin nila,” he added.
Jims Ducusin paced Adamson with eight points.
With this defeat, the Baby Falcons dropped to a 2-2 record, sharing fourth with the DLSZ Junior Green Spikers and the FEU-Diliman Baby Tams — the latter sweeping the Ateneo Blue Eagles earlier in the day, 25-8, 25-9, 25-15.
Brix Landicho guided the Baby Tams in the match that lasted for 52 minutes, tallying 13 excellent sets and five attacks.
Team captain Zedrick Calimlim led the scoring for the Baby Tamaraws, notching 13 points, including 10 attacks and three aces.
Duane Ladores also contributed to the win with six points from five kills.
Meanwhile, the Blue Eagles remained winless at 0-4.
