KARL Absalon scored twice while Andre Yu and Sherwin Basindanan were on target as holders Far Eastern University overwhelmed Adamson University, 4-0, in the UAAP Season 86 men’s football tournament yesterday at the UP Football Field.
The Tamaraws extended their winning run to seven matches and have not lost since dropping their season opener.
After a scoreless first 38 minutes, Absalon broke the ice and doubled FEU’s lead during the first-half stoppage time.
“We started very slow, the first goal came pretty late in the first half. I think I counted four or five missed opportunities,” said coach Albert Besa.
“It’s not just missed opportunities but it was one of those chances where you should convert it was an easy goal right in front keeper. It should have been finished early.”
Yu opened a three-lead cushion for the Tamaraws in the 52nd minute before Basindanan rounded up the scoring in the 69th minute.
The also-ran Falcons remained at the bottom of the table with three points, all coming from draws.
FEU will press its Final Four bid further against University of Santo Tomas at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Adamson, on the other hand, will take on Ateneo on April 21 at the same Diliman venue.
