FRANCK Anoh made things happen in De La Salle University’s two goals in a 2-1 victory over University of the East to remain on top of the UAAP Season 85 Men’s Football table Thursday at the UP Football Field.
Ivorian Anoh assisted Mikio Umilin’s first-half stoppage-time goal to open the scoring for the Green Booters.
Coming off Roberto Cruel’s cross, Anoh doubled La Salle’s lead four minutes after the restart with a fine finish.
“He has to contribute. It has how many games he has been flat. So that helps him with his confidence whether he scores or makes an assist or what have you,” said coach Hans Smit on Anoh.
The Red Warriors pulled one back on an Edmar Adonis’ 56th-minute penalty, but the Recto-based side could not come out with the equalizer the rest of the way.
The Green Booters avenged their season-opening 1-5 loss to the Red Warriors and improved to 16 points.
It was UE’s first loss of the season after an undefeated first round run.
UE remained at 12 points to level with Far Eastern University but it now sits in third due to an inferior goal difference.
