UAAP 84 Men’s Basketball bubble games to be played thrice a week

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 84 will hold its men’s basketball tournament in a full bubble setup.

League president Emmanuel Calanog said all teams will play thrice a week starting on March 26.

“We will be playing all teams in each of the play dates. Before we only play four teams per play date,” said Calanog.

“Our target is to finish the tournament within a month and a half so we need all teams playing thrice a week.”

The league is targeting Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays as its game days with 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm as tip-offs.

All players should be fully vaccinated to be able to play. Booster shots are not required.

“Yes fully-vaxed is a requirement and by that we mean, for us okay na ‘yung two shots,” said UAAP executive director Rebo Saguisag.

The venue is yet to be finalized but the league is looking at SM Mall of Asia Arena, Smart Araneta Coliseum, Filoil Flying V Centre, and Ynares Sports Arena.

The tournament will have the same format as previous tournaments had: double round-robin elimination, Final Four, and a best-of-three Finals.

The basketball teams of all member schools are already in their own bubble training in their respective campuses.
