Gilas Pilipinas Women bowed out of the FIBA 3×3 Under-23 World Cup with a single win.
The Philippines defeated Mexico, 19-12, but later fell to Spain, finishing with a 1-4 record in Pool B on Saturday in Xiang’an, China.
Gilas showcased a balanced attack in their victory over Mexico, with Tin Cayabyab leading the way with seven points.
Cheska Apag contributed five, while Kacey dela Rosa and Elaine Etang added four and three points, respectively.
However, the Filipinas were overwhelmed by the Spanish quartet. Spain surged to a 16-7 lead and never looked back.
Dela Rosa was held scoreless, while Etang led Gilas with six points.
Marta García and Begoña De Santiago Otero scored five points each to pace Spain, with Alicia Florez and Elena Moreno Fernández adding four apiece.
The Philippines opened its campaign with a narrow 19-17 loss to Chile, followed by a 21-14 defeat to the USA.
Now, all four players will return to their respective schools for the UAAP Season 88 campaign, which begins on Wednesday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Arena.
