There’s a chance Japeth Aguilar comes back soon.
Ginebra head coach Tim Cone said that his star center could return to action in Game 1 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals, barring any hitch to his recovery.
The league’s winningest mentor said as much shortly after the Kings returned to the Big Dance following a sweep of San Miguel in the semis, Wednesday.
“There’s an opportunity Japeth could return,” Cone said after their 87-85 come-from-behind Game 3 victory at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Aguilar has been sidelined since the early goings of the conference due to an MCL injury, the reason why he also missed Gilas Pilipinas duties.
The crowd darlings have enough reason to be confident in welcoming the 36-year-old back, since the Finals won’t start until Easter Sunday (April 9).
And his return should bode well for the Barangay’s quest for a rare Governors’ Cup three-peat against either TNT or long-time foe Meralco.
